An alternative to the Conner boots featured above are costume boots for a female Conner Ratonhnhaké: ton character. You would be playing the role of a female half Mohawk and half British Assassin. For the most part, Louisiana Creole Assassin Aveline de Grandpré wore gaiters over her boots. However, there are times she is seen wearing tan colored knee-high boots with different pirate outfits. When dressed as a New Orleans aristocrat she the wears colonial style street shoes.

I wasn’t able to find any costume websites selling these gaiters, but I did find sites with tutorials on “how to make your own Aveline de Grandpré gaiters”.

So, if you are a semi-homemade DIY costumer, you will want to attempt to make these gaiters at home. They are the “icing on the cake” to creating a costume to look as authentic as possible for your costume event.

Featured in the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, Shao Jun didn’t really wear boots.

Instead, she wears soft Chinese style slip-on shoes with strips of cloth wrapped around her legs starting from the ankles and wrapping up to the knees. Wearing either gray or black slippers with a contrasting cloth wrap are both acceptable for this Chinese Assassin’s footwear.

We have selected several examples in each color that will work for Shao Jun’s Assassin’s costume. Some of the slippers come with bows attached. I would remove the bows for the costume.

The cosplay Evie Frye boots I had originally featured here has sold out. I searched everywhere for another pair and couldn’t find them. These over-the-knee chunky heel boots will make a suitable substitute.

The Evie Frye boots can be worn with the Evie Frye costumes I have featured on the Women’s Assassin’s Creed Costumes page. The boots are over-the-knee faux suede with a chunky heel.

Lucy Thorpe was a Templar from Victorian England who was Evie Frye’s enemy. While Lucy attempts to keep sacred artifacts out of the hands of the Assassin’s, the Assassin’s are working to keep them out of the hands of Lucy and the Templars. Evie eventually does assassinate Lucy while they are looking for the Shroud of Eden in the Tower of London.

I would get two strips of a dark purple fabric to lay against the tongue of each boot, then lace-up the boot. The purple fabric is the color of the Masonic Order of Templars and will make the boots look exactly like the boots worn by Lucy in the AC Syndicate video game. Lucy’s costume is a dark charcoal color, so I think either the black or the dark brown boots would look equaly amazing.

Assassin Maria’s Boots

Maria was a Master Assassin raised by Assassins from the Spanish Brotherhood during the late 15th-century. She wore Moor clothing and a necklace with a pendant shaped like an eight-pointed star that has the Assassin insignia etched into it. She was also an intimate friend to Master Assassin Aguilar de Nerha.

The boots featured in the photo on the left are the actual pair worn by Maria, played by Ariane Labed, in the action film. The photo was taken at the ArcLight Sherman Oaks Cinema where the original costume was being displayed.

When trying to replicate the original pair of boots, I was looking for a pair of boots with multiple buckles on the shaft of the boot and this is the closest I could find. They are a beautiful pair of high-quality, genuine leather boots.

I flipped over this gorgeous pair of boots the moment I saw them and thought how ideal they would be matched to the Moorish influence in the Maria costume. The timeline of the character was in the early 15th-century of the Spanish Inquisition. Even though the boots are not layered with multiple straps, the decorative draped leather accent straps along with the braided leather buckles give these boots a Spanish flair. The burnished leather gives the boots a distressed ombre styling.

And again, for our vegan customers, we have an assortment of affordable faux leather boots. They look fabulous, but just are not made as well as genuine leather boots. The synthetic manmade faux leather fibers will not withstand constant use as long as a pair of genuine leather boots. However, they will surfise for a few costume events several times a year. Just remember to clean them up, as if they are real leather, before putting them up for storage and they will last a few seasons.

According to shoe manufacturers, if the faux leather boots are worn constantly for everyday fashion use, then the life expectancy is only 3 months before they will need to be replaced.
