All three of these deluxe theater quality costumes featured above are made in the USA by Tabi’s Characters who are well known in the costume industry for their wonderful handmade costumes. They didn’t use cheap, thin fabrics when creating these costumes. All the fabrics used are high-quality materials only a professional tailor would use. Notice the detail and all of the accessories that come with these costumes. The hats are also included with all the costumes, but the footwear are NOT included.

Not as well made as the other Mad Hatter costumes showcased on this page and the costume only includes 3 pieces. Included are a coat with an attached faux vest, a dickie with an attached bowtie, and a pair of wide legged pants. The hat, orange wig, and shoes are not included. It is IMHO that this costume is not worth the money and you will be paying for the Disney name and not a theater quality costume. The one piece has velcro closures to get in and out easily. I don’t like that you don’t get a separate shirt, vest and jacket. Perhaps that doesn’t matter to you, but for the price I want the real thing….. Just saying.

Made in Britian, home of Lewis Carroll the author of the Alice in Wonderland book series for the World Book Day. When wearing this costume to an American event you will be sure to stand out. This costume will be different from any other Mad Hatter costume at an American function. This is a 4-piece set that includes a purple tail jacket with lime green lining, a pair of multi-colored striped pants, a matching stripe tie, and a top hat with the 10/6 price tag. The costume is available in all men’s sizes up to a plus size 4XXXX. All you will need is a wig and a few accessories. For example, add a bit more flair to the costume with a walking stick, and a set of hat pins are a nice touch to place in the hat sash.

Both of these coats are fine, high quality coats, inspired by the many different outfits worn in both of the Tim Burton Disney films. The coat showcased on the left is a high-quality, coat well made from faux suede fabric. It includes a separate bird patch that can be sewn onto the coat, or just pin it on. The coat laces in the back making it adjustable and it is accented with muliple colored buttons and purple piping on the sleeve cuffs.
The coat showcased on the right is also made of faux suede, but it comes with pink lace ruffles sewn into the cuff of the jacket sleeves. Included with the jacket is a ribbon safety pin, a sewn-on bird patch, and a pink pocket handkerchief. It also laces in the back but the lacings are frayed and don’t look like they will hold up very well to any amount of tension. They look like they will easily snap. Even so, this has been a very popular jacket and is almost sold out so you must be quick if it is the one you want.

An exact replica of the bow tie worn in the Alice in Wonderland film. It is made of a silky poly/rayon. You can use this tie for many other costume ideas, not only for the Mad Hatter, as it is a very veritile piece.

Johnny Depp wore several different color shirts in the Alice Through the Looking Glass film. In the Alice in Wonderland film he wore a pink shirt. This is a replicated version of that shirt. There is a wide piece of white lace sewn onto the cuff of the shirt.
If you sew, it would be super easy to do the same at home. What I would do is make a 2-tier double lace ruffle cuff either out of white or pink lace and sew it onto the cuff of a pink dress shirt. If you put snaps on the cuffs you can switch from pink to white for a costume change.

Inspired by the vest worn by Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, this cotton waistcoat has a diamond pattern and was seen worn under three different color jackets in the films; a brown jacket, a green jacket, and a wine colored jacket. The waistcoat in the film is a true double-breasted Victorian style waistcoat where this replicated version is actually a single-breasted vest.
When Johnny is wearing his kilt outfit, his coat is blue, his waistcoat is a double-breasted fuschia pink with gold buttons, and his kilt is a gray and wine plaid. With that costume, he wears striped mismatched knee socks. He is also seen with a gray shirt with contrasting neon-blue lace cuffs and also the pink shirt with the white lace cuffs.
No matter, how mad and mismatched the Hatters clothing selections may appear to be, you’ve gotta admit, he has a lot of colorful style. Would you expect anything less from a milliner?

Notice the embroidery on the left leg of the Mad Hatters pant separates? Pretty cool, huh? These replicated pants are brown light wool, flaired leg trousers with white stripes and the embroidery detailing. The length of the pants are just above the ankles. Whimsical, fun pants for a charming character.
Mad Hatter Footwear
It has been difficult find shoes designed for the Hatter costumes. The few styles we did find are either already sold out or almost sold out with just a few sizes left. We did find a few substitutes that can be used with a bid of creativity. So have a look and see what you think.

The yellow boots featured above left are costume boots and are not meant as an everyday pair of shoes. The boots featured above right are a pair of inexpensive British style Martin shoes. I like the gradient color for the more distressed look of a Mad Hatters boot. In either case, replace the shoe laces with red flat shoe laces and you’ll be good to go.

We abhor boot covers because we think they look cheap and tacky, but if you have run out of all other shoe options for your costume, at least as a last resort you have this option too. These boot covers are made of brown vinyl and have red shoe laces.
