Christians all over the world are celebrating Christmas and with that celebration are Nativity Pageants. For years schools and churches have had annual Christmas plays involving the reenactment of the birth of Christ. Fast forward to modern times and in some communities, it is no longer politically correct for the Nativity Scene or the birth of Christ to be included in a Christmas pageant if one is held at all.
With that being said, I have received requests from Christian customers looking for Biblical costumes for Christmas pageants their children will be participating in. This is not a site for children’s costumes, as I kindly responded. On this page, I am only featuring adult Biblical costumes which adults can wear along with their children when participating in their annual Christmas pageants and plays.
Children’s costumes will have to be found on a children’s costume site. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I do not want to have to be politically correct for the sake of uptight parents. With that being said and done, let’s have a look at some really great Wise Men Costumes.
Adult Wise Men Costumes

To make a long story short, the traditional nativity scene depicts three “Wise Men” following a bright star in the heavens to visit the baby Jesus in a manger surrounded by shepherds and angels to worship the newborn king of the Jews. This has to be understood as the poetic license of writers to fictionalize the story for the sake of convenience by joining two separate occurrences. The birth of Jesus and the visitation of the magi after his birth.
According to the book of Matthew in the Bible, an unspecified number of Magi know as wise men were sent from the East by King Herod (we assume Persia). They followed a star to a house in Bethlehem in Judea, not a stable, with only his mother mentioned as being present. The time was not specified but is calculated to be when Christ was close to a year old.
Incidentally, Christ is beieved to have been born sometime between February and March, and perhaps as late as April, but not in December. Celebrating Christmas was actually mixed in with the old Pagan religion which was celebrated during the Winter Equinox in December. The Catholics felt it was a way to join the old religion with the new in hopes of converting the Pagans to Christianity. Still today we celebrate Christmas in December with Christmas trees and Santa Claus which all came from the old Pagan religions.

The Three Kings Wise Men II & III Men’s Deluxe Theater Costume by Tabi Characters
Very affordable Wise Men costumes by Forum Novelty. They are nowhere near as elaborate or well made using high-quality fabrics as the Tabi costumes featured above but they look decent enough for a one time, maybe twice, church stage reenactment. The garnet costume includes a cone-shaped turban headpiece, a crushed poly-velvet shirt with banded cuffs matching the decorative trimmed shirt front, a long sleeveless vest, a matching fabric belt and a pair of harem pants gathered at the ankles. The sandals, wig, beard, mustache, and gift box are not included. Magi gift boxes can be purchased separately below.
Included with the Emerald Wiseman Biblical adult costume is a gold lamé headpiece with gold braid trim and a faux gemstone; a green cape trimmed with a tiger print fabric; a tiger print polyester shirt trimmed with gold braid; a gold lamé fabric belt trimmed with matching gold braid and a faux gemstone; and dark brown poly-satin harem pants closed at the ankles with elastic.
The Sapphire Wiseman Biblical adult costume includes a poly-velvet robe trimmed with leopard print fabric with a jacquard print front panel and cuffs; a leopard print shoulder cape attached to a long blue poly-velvet cape, a penne velvet headpiece with a fabric wrap, and blue poly-velvet velvet sash. After all, the magis, or wise men, where thought by some to be kings. Wise Men Adult Costume Kits
Costume kits are an inexpensive way to create a fast and easy costume to become one of the Wise Men who followed the star to Jerusalem. They are a good alternative to buying separate pieces if you only plan to wear a costume for a one-time event. The wigs and beards may be included, however, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are the best option. Especially if looking for costumes of a higher quality needed by professionals for annual events. I am giving you options for your own needs and budgets for the Christmas event you are participating in by featuring these costume kits.

I cannot figure why a Magi or Eastern Persian king would need a shepherd’s hook. A magi or a king carrying a shepard’s hook? Go figure. Although, in another way of thinking, the costume can be used again with a few alterations for another Biblical character costume at another time. Like perhaps a shepherd?

Women’s Christmas Nativity Pageant Virgin Mary Costumes
All of the Mary costumes are pretty simple and basically the same. The fabric the costumes are made out is what will reflect the price. The cheaper synthetic fabrics make cheaper costumes. The majority of women’s Biblical costumes for Mary are blue and white reflecting the Catholic statues of the virgin Mary.
You will become the immaculate Mary and the star of the show wearing this long white panne velvet dress with a silver cord waist tie. Included is an attached blue panne velvet shoulder cape with matching hooded headpiece.

During Biblical times the working class of men all dressed pretty much the same. It really didn’t matter if you were a carpenter or a shepherd. The only things that might vary are the colors and the fabrics of the clothing.The Joseph costumes I am featuring here can also be worn as shepherd costumes.
Men’s Joseph Biblical Christmas Nativity Pageant Costume
A very nice costume for Joseph, but the satin look of the fabrics is something a wealthy merchant might have worn instead of a poor carpenter. However, it will look very nice on stage in a nativity scene.
Included with this inexpensive Joseph costume is a tan tunic with attached contrasting dark brown waist tie and robe. The headpiece is also included. The sandals and crook staff are not included. They may be purchased separately.
Men’s Nativity Shepherd Costumes
Shepherd’s crooks are included with some of these shepherd costumes and with others the crook must be purchased separately. If the hook is not included the costume could easily be substituted for a Joseph costume.
Made in the USA, this nice quality 3-piece Men’s Shepherd Costume features a long sand-colored robe with a dark brown over drape mantle and a matching head cover with a rope headband trim. It is an excellent choice for a Christmas nativity production. It will bring out the guarding shepherd in any man. The shepherd’s walking staff is not included but one can be purchased separately below.

Every nativity scene needs at least two angels hovering over the manger where the baby Jesus is sleeping. The angel costumes I am featuring will make beautiful additions to your Christmas nativity play.
The magis rode across the desert following a bright star in the night sky all the way to Bethlehem. The mode of transportation 2,000 plus years ago were camels. Every nativity play I have participated in or seen over the years has had at least one camel hovering in the background of the nativity manger scene. Along with a cow, a goat and a few sheep costumes for the kids to wear.
