Everyone is familiar with the Dr. Seuss story of How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) wrote and illustrated the book of rhymed verse in 1957. Since then it has been lovingly read to millions of children around the world.
It has also been and adapted into films. The first, and most popular, animated film was in 1966 and has become a Christmas classic for children of that era. The film version, starring Jim Carey in 2000 along with the latest 2018 animated version, are also family Christmas favorites. The films are so well loved they have become a family tradition for many during the Christmas season. Many households feel it just isn’t Christmas without watching the grumpy creature trying to put a stop to Whoville’s favorite annual holiday celebration.

In the animated 2018 Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch film, Mr. Grinch goes through several scarf changes prior to donning his Santa suit.
He is first seen wearing a red and white stripe mohair scarf when planning to catapult his giant snowball on Whoville. Next, he is seen as a child wearing a red and black stripe mohair scarf when he is reminiscing about his unhappy childhood.
His next costume change comes when he’s in the woods with a big fat goofy reindeer trying to steal a sleigh. In this scene he’s changed into a blue and navy striped scarf with a navy blue knit beanie hat.
Any of the scarf and hat accessories featured above can be worn to enhance the plain green fuzzy Grinch jumpsuits featured above.
At the end of the story, Mr. Grinch is invited to Cindy Lou Who’s home for Christmas dinner. He wears a red and white striped tie to the dinner celebration. You too can wear a red and white striped tie with your Grinch costume. Wear it again to your own Christmas dinner feast!

Plop him on a shelf, on a stair, or under a Dr. Suess inspired Christmas tree. He is a small 14-inch stuffed toy so he can be placed just about anywhere in the home you need a little more Christmas cheer.

Christmas Deluxe Adult Grinch Complete 6-Piece Santa Costume
You may not need a pair of green gloves if you purchased one of the costume sets featured above. However, if you need separates for a more customized cosplay costume, a pair of gloves will be a costume necessity. The furry green gloves featured above left look more authentic, for creating Dr. Suess’s “Grinch Who Stole Christmas”, but per the reviews on Amazon they are cheaply made. It seems to be hit and miss. Some love them while others say they are not worth the money.
The spandex pair featured above right appears to be the more popular pair of the two. They don’t have the furry green faux fur, however, they seem to be better a better quality costume gloves, according to the reviews, at a lower cost.
It’s next to impossible to be depressed during the Christmas season when dressed as Cindy Lou. Even the grumpiest Grinches and bah humbug Scrooges will light up and smile when they see you in this Cindy Lou Christmas outfit!
I’ll betcha your heart will grow two sizes when you put on this Cindy Lou Christmas Grinch costume dress. It is adorable with its black and white check fabric, its sweet puffed sleeves, and the black and white satin ribbon accents on the hem. Included is a luxurious red velvet hooded cape with classy white faux fur trim. All this makes for a jolly good Christmas gift.
Remember to add the “wacky-cool hairstyle” wig with the iconic braids, a pair of bucked teeth, a pair of black patent leather Mary Jane shoes, and a pair of white lace-trimmed ankle socks to complete the look. Cindy Lou was a blonde in the Dr. Seuss book and films, but that doesn’t mean you have to be. Other hair colors are available, including green! Become any female Whoville citizen you like just by changing your hair color and outfit.
Wearing buck teeth for your Cindy Lou Who Grinch inspired costume isn’t an absolute necessity, however, they do bring a more authentic look to the overall authenticity of the costume.
You won’t feel like at all like something’s missing from your costume. When you put these teeth caps on over your own teeth you’ll know immediately your costume is complete.
By the way, the caps are secured to your own teeth with a non-toxic molding agent which creates a custom fit to your mouth.
Cindy Lou Who Mary Jane Style Black Patent Leather Costume Accessory Shoes
Choose the black patent leather Mary Jane shoe style with a heel height you are the most comfortable wearing. The height of the shoe doesn’t matter for the Cindy Lou costumes as long as it is a Mary Jane style. You may already have a pair lurking in your closet. If you do, get them out and shine them up with a tiny bit of Vaseline Jelly or mineral oil on a microfiber cloth.

The Mayor of Whoville Mayor Augustus Maywho Costume and Accessories
Ther isn’t a lot out there in the way of costumes for the Mayor of Whoville. His blue suit is easy enough to replicate through thrift shops in your local area. Then all you need to do is throw a red velvet king’s cape with a spotted faux fur collar around your shoulders, add a big yellow bowtie, the mayor’s wig and eyebrows, and pin some military medals (you may already have some) onto a red sash over your blue suit. Then voila! You are good to go as the Mayor of Whoville.
